We are seeking an Investor to join our team. In this role, you will have hands-on responsibility across the full investment lifecycle, including: sourcing and evaluating new opportunities, leading research and diligence efforts, and supporting our growing portfolio of early-stage companies. You will work closely with exceptional founders, technical experts, and fellow investors across our network.
You will have full visibility and significant input into our investment process. Though research is involved, this is not a desk research job. We operate with an apprenticeship model, where we expose decision making to the entire firm.
This role offers a unique opportunity for a curious, collaborative, and highly motivated individual to build experience in venture capital, while having real ownership and influence from day one.
Responsibilities
Source investment opportunities by building relationships with founders, operators, and technical experts across the climate ecosystem
Conduct diligence on potential investments including market research, competitive analysis, expert interviews, customer calls, and financial modeling
Develop investment theses and conduct background research to help the team identify the most promising opportunities and approach pitch meetings with an informed perspective
Evaluate founders as much as their ideas—assessing whether they have the resilience, learning agility, and leadership to execute on ambitious, first-of-their-kind ventures
Partner with portfolio companies on fundraising, business development, and strategic initiatives
Support internal operations, including pipeline tracking and event management
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required, with preference given to degrees in scientific or technical fields
Additional academic degrees (MS, MBA, PhD) are welcome but not required
2-5 years relevant professional experience, which may include:
Financial services (investment banking, private equity, or venture capital)
Management consulting with experience on private equity diligences or investment-focused engagements
Operating roles at high-growth startups
Experience at energy, industrial, or infrastructure companies
Research or R&D in science or engineering-driven organizations
Strong preference for exposure to the early stage venture ecosystem in some capacity, whether as an investor, intern/fellow, academic club, or similar
Strong analytical skills across market research, competitive analysis, and financial modeling
Outstanding attention to detail when reviewing data, with the ability to synthesize key insights efficiently
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment while proactively seeking support/feedback when needed
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to go deep technically when required and stay high-level when appropriate
Energized by meeting new people and building relationships across a wide range of backgrounds
Demonstrated intellectual curiosity across multiple sectors and technologies
Strong alignment with Gigascale’s focus on climate impact
Based in (or willing to relocate to) the San Francisco Bay Area
We work in person from our offices in Palo Alto at least 2-3 days/week and offer a competitive compensation package based on experience.
Gigascale Capital is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees and candidates.
